Moans & Groans
The LFCA have had many ”Moans & Groans” put to us from carers, both old and new..
The Taxi issue is still on-going and is a highly charged issue with ALL Carers,and even now, with Social Services..
The HIGH cost, with major mistakes from taxi companies are still being charged and paid !! The LFCA will ask that this is addressed by higher management, and a more stringent system brought in to make sure this does not continue.
The Loss of money from the lower budget this year, means that the children will miss out on other things..
Have YOU been given the right information from your Social worker, regarding allowances, accreditation, what you can and cannot claim back for, clothing and school clothing allowances ?
It is Your right as a Carer, to be paid back, and on time, for any monies you have paid out ( Keep your Receipts ) for and on behalf of Leicester Fostering. Please make sure that you send in your receipts and correctly filled in paperwork ( Claim forms from your supervising social worker ) BEFORE the Tuesday before the pay-run on that same weeks Friday….
You can as a Carer, ask your supervising social worker, IF a mistake has been made in your payment, to make YOU a Cash payment. You will of course have to go to the office to collect the paperwork, then go to the Cash office at the council to collect your money…. Many Carers have told the LFCA that they are told that the error will be put right next time, and CAN YOU WAIT for the NEXT pay run, and made to feel as if they should never have said anything.. This is not true.. If the amount is small or large, YOU have the right to ask for a Cash voucher to go and get your money..
Have YOU been paid everything back, that you claimed on your claim form?
The LFCA have had several calls from Carers that have NOT had all the money paid back, but legally claimed for on the claim forms.
Always keep a COPY of your claim form,as these can be lost in the post, and if ALL of your claim has NOT been paid, contact your supervising social worker and tell them.
Remember, no-one can alter YOUR claim form without your permission, either by speaking to you personally, and or, changing it yourselves. It is a Legal Document.
It is your right to now know the full extent of what is out there for you as a Foster Carer.
You should first ask your supervising social worker to give you ALL the details…
Failing that, you can always ask the LFCA . We are here to HELP YOU the Carer….
